The first of this year was cold and we mentioned that in an article about helping those in need. (Click here to read the article.) But it’s important to remember there is need all year long. The agencies we mentioned in our January article — The Salvation Army, WNC Rescue Mission, ABCCM, and Miracle Hill — serve those needs all year long.
While money is always needed, your donations aren’t limited to cash. Gently used items are more than welcome. Most of these agencies have stores where other folks will gladly convert your donations into cash. Now is a great time to clear out the garage, back room, or front room. Many of these groups also collect school supplies, coats, or food to support their work.
While volunteering does include physically assisting in the ministry, there are several other ways to volunteer. For example, in November Balsam Range will hold a benefit concert for the ABCCM Veteran’s Restoration Quarters. Click here to buy a ticket and help support this important work. The very next day you can participate in a 5K to help support the same worthwhile cause. Click here to register for the ABCCM 5K Dog Tag Dash.

Sometimes the best thing to do is tell someone else about a need. Sometimes we just need a nudge in the right direction to do what we know we need to do. Share this article, write an article, hold a food/clothes drive, hold a fundraising event, or do something else. Click on the links above to find out about the need and the opportunities to help.
