ROADTRIP: You’ll Spend Hours on Cherry Street In Black Mountain

By D. Lanier Shook                                         February 25, 2014

When is a street a destination? When it’s Cherry Street in Black Mountain. This street isn’t very long, but its packed with shops, restaurants, and galleries you can spend all day at — literally.

This is one of several sculptures on Cherry Street. It’s Mitsubishi Man by Dan Howachyn

Places like Cherry Street are the reason people come to visit Western North Carolina. You can park along the street, down the hill at the Depot, or on East State Street just below the Fire Department— although this parking lot is a hop, skip, and a jump away.

These are artificial flowers which is why they look that good in February. They’re one of three window boxes you can find in an alley leading east off Cherry Street.

The businesses on Cherry Street are diverse, offering anything you need. Here’s just a few of them.

Since Cherry Street is on a hill they’ve provided awesome benches to rest on.

Cherry Street is only one of many great destinations that make Black Mountain the Front Porch of Western North Carolina. But it’s one of those places you can spend all day at. (I nearly did.)

This pocket park is actually the entrance to Ivy Corner Antiques and More.
