Two and a half hours southeast of Asheville is the beautiful city of Lancaster, South Carolina. Halfway between Rock Hill and Pageland , this city has been home to some very interesting people. These include country music star Julie Roberts, Charles Duke – who walked on the moon, and our state’s most recent Poet Laureate, Cathy Smith Bowers. But what you really need to know about is the Lancaster Red Rose Festival coming up in May.
May should be an incredible time of the year to visit upstate South Carolina. On Friday May 16 Lancaster will launch two days of fun for the entire family. Kids will enjoy rock climbing, slides, carousels, and more. You can pick up great bargains including art, jewelry, and other crafts. Of course you can also enjoy incredible Southern food like hot dogs, barbecue, and funnel cakes.
For all the details click here to visit the City’s Festival page. To stay up to date with developments you can connect with the Festival on Facebook by clicking here. The Red Rose Festival is a perfect example of the daytrips we love to take. Its quick, its close, and it will save you money.
