The great thing about this job is what it requires me to do. A few hours ago I was eating a great chicken salad and listening to a talented young artist. Sighhhh. Its a tough job but somebody’s gotta do it.
Seriously though, Emily Bodley is a very good artist and Mike’s Pizza and Pasta makes a great grilled chicken salad. We first introduced you to her when she sang at the Mountain State Fair. You can see her performances there by clicking here to visit her YouTube Channel.
Tonight she sang at Mike’s Pizza and Pasta, which is an incredible restaurant in Hendersonville. (Click here to visit Mike’s website.) It was an intimate dining space without a bad seat in the house. My salad was great and there’s a very impressive menu you can check out on his website. It seems like a great place for lunch any day of the week. Its convenient to I-26 and downtown Hendersonville with plenty of parking out front and back.
The space was a perfect place to hear Emily playing the ukelele and guitar while singing and about a dozen songs, including several that she wrote. She has a wonderfully honest, energetic stage presence and an impressively wide vocal range. She sang one well known tune and did as well — if not better — than the national artist who made it well known.
Emily has a great voice, but that’s not her only skill. She showed her ability to play both the guitarist and ukelele. I thought her ability to sing well while simultaneously playing is impressive. She’s a good deal more comfortable in the spotlight than I would have been at her age.
