ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT THURSDAY: Flat Rock Playhouse Brings Broadway to the Mountains

By D. Lanier Shook                                  September 20, 2013

If you’ve never taken in a show at the Flat Rock Playhouse, you’re missing out on one of Western North Carolina real treasures. This is where Broadway really does come to the mountains, saving you airfare, hotel room, and having to buy large containers of liquid once you get there. We’ve told you about the Playhouse’s incredible offerings before (click here to read the articles) and now there’s even more to tell about.

Next week the Nrithyanjali School of Dance from Greenville, SC brings the tale of Lord Vishnu to the Flat Rock stage in the production of Krishna. This will be an enlightening (no pun intended) view into Hindu mythology and literature for many Western audiences. It’s a body of work that will surprise and engage you. To make it even better the ticket sales will benefit Vision Express, a Asheville based charity bringing cataract surgery to women in rural India.  Click here to read more about the production.

The Play House has three venues to serve you — Mainstage, Downtown, and Music on The Rock. You’ll want to click here to visit the Playhouse’s site. Whatever you enjoy, you will find something to enjoy at the Flat Rock Playhouse.
