FESTIVAL: North Carolina Mountain State Fair Music Lineup, Part Three

By D. Lanier Shook                          September 6, 2013

There are a lot of great groups coming to the Mountain State Fair and you are going to want to hear some of them. But before I tell you about the rest of them I’m going to encourage you to click here to visit the Fair’s website. That’s where you’ll find ticket information, stage locations, exhibit information, and parking information.

We’ve put up three articles about the musicians coming to the Fair. The first one — click here to read it — was about the groups that will be playing on the Bojangles Music Stage during the Fair’s first weekend and the first part of next week. The second article — click here to read it — told you about who will be playing the Bojangles Music Stage during the last part of next week, the end of the Fair. The third article— click here to read it — reviewed the 35 groups that will be playing at the Mountain Music Festival on the Heritage Music Stage.

There are a few more groups you need to know about that will be playing the Fair.

LEON JACOBS, JR ON THE PEPSI MUSIC STAGE

Friday, Saturday, Sunday 3 pm, 5pm, 7pm, 9:15pm

Monday – Thursday 5pm, 7pm, 9:15pm

The first thing you need to know about Mr. Jacobs is that by clicking here you can visit his website. Its full of photos, demos, a schedule of where he’s playing next, and a page where you can buy his CDs. More importantly, you also need to know this is the thirteenth year Mr. Jacobs has been at the NC Mountain State Fair. He’s shared other stages with some very famous musicians, including the late “Doc” Watson, Reba, and the Statler Brothers. To preview some of the gospel, rock, and Americana music he performs click here to visit his website.

Leon Jacobs, Jr is one of my favorite musicians at the Fair. He is going to be there pretty much the whole time, doing what he loves — playing great music for you. So swing by the Pepsi Music Stage and listen to a song or two. Remember, you can come back cause this guy has some serious endurance.

EMILY BODLEY                 5-7 pm Monday, September 9 on the Bojangles Music Stage

Emily Bodley is an exciting addition to the Fair’s lineup. This is a 17 year old from Hendersonville who will be getting the chance to play on the Bojangles Music Stage. That’s inspiring and heartwarming at the same time. Emily plays acoustic music on the guitar, ukele, and mandolin in a fresh, honest way that you’ll enjoy. To find out more about this extraordinary young woman click here to visit her Facebook page, click here to hear her on Soundcloud, or click here to watch her on YouTube.

GREYWOLF                 5-7 pm Tuesday, September 10 on the Bojangles Music Stage

Unfortunately I couldn’t find anything about this group. If anyone knows them, please post a comment with the info.

Well, that concludes the list of performers coming to the Mountain State Fair this year. I hope you find several that you can get to see and enjoy. Whether you do or not, click here to visit the Fair’s website. The Fair is an exciting and dynamic event you should enjoy.
