Do you like apples? If you do, you’re in luck. The trees in Henderson County are full of them.
Of course, apples aren’t the only fresh produce that you’ll be able to find soon. We’re blessed to find them in lots of tailgate markets, but I’m going to suggest you also need to stop at our local Farmer’s Markets. There are two within easy driving distance.
The first one is here in Western North Carolina, on Brevard Road just off I-40 Exit 47. In March we told you about the retail buildings at the Western North Carolina Farmer’s Market, but there’s alot of great produce in the other sheds. (Click here to read the March article.)
You can find a wide variety of great food at the Farmer’s Market. For a full list of what’s in season click here. The Western North Carolina Farmer’s Market homepage is full of great resources, including a list of prices you can expect to pay for the produce. For this and more click here to visit their page.
The other Farmer’s Market I want to tell you about is the one in Greenville, South Carolina. I was there in April and was able to browse an amazing variety of produce and flowering bushes. It’s located on 1354 Rutherford Road, just off North Pleasentburg Drive.
The Greenville State Farmer’s has several great retail areas where you’ll find the Upstate’s best produce. Remember, this area also produces apples, peaches, and other delicacies. To find out more about it, click here to visit their homepage.
