If you haven’t been to Burnsville, then your tax dollars are not at work for you. A beautiful new four lane highway was just completed from Mars Hill to Burnsville and you probably paid for it. You need to go visit Burnsville.

When you go and let your tax dollars work for you, the first stop needs to be the Visitors Center located on West Main Street just a block west of the Square. They’re open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday through Friday and from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. Its the place to find out about everything going on in Yancey County and beyond.

This quilt is located behind the reception’s desk. This photo doesn’t do it justice, so you’ll just have to drop in and check it out yourself.

Burnsville is home to awesome arts and crafts, including the 57th Annual Mt. Mitchell Crafts Fair coming up next Friday. You should click here to find out about this impressive display of mountain crafts you won’t want to miss. They’ll have just about everything you can think of. No seriously, they will.

This is a 1920s Dodge Roadster that’s in the lobby of the Visitor’s Center.

Burnsville is only about forty five minutes from Asheville and about half an hour from Mars Hill. The drive is well worth it and you’ll want to go back again and again. For even more information about Burnsville click here to visit their website.
