ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT: Free Concerts At Furman That You Should Go To

By D. Lanier Shook                           June 16, 2013

The Upstate of South Carolina is a great place and not just because it’s only an easy hour’s drive away. Its full of great shopping, museums, attractions, and culture. This is one perfect example.

Beginning last month Furman University began holding its Music By The Lake concert series. Every Thursday at twilight they’d showcase wonderful music performed by top notch artists. And best of all, they’re free. Click here for the schedule, the directions, and all the other information you need to know.

So, here are five reasons you should attend Furman’s Music By The Lake this summer.

1. You Can Do Your Shopping While You’re There

Click here to read my article about the incredible shopping literally just a mile or two away from Furman. This is only a little bit of the awesome shopping Greenville offers. There’s more incredible shopping all around the city, including an awesome selection where Woodruff Road meets I-385.

2. You Can Enjoy Great Attractions On The Way

Click here to read my article on the Poinsett Bridge just north of Greenville. It’s just one example of the museums and attractions Greenville has to offer. For a more thorough list click here to check out the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau website.

3. It’s Only An Hour Away

Time and money have always limited people. Greenville takes less gasoline and less time to reach than other places. That makes these concerts a great savings.

4. Furman Has a Beautiful Campus

If you’ve never been on Furman’s campus you’re missing a treat. From their beautiful lake to the fountains to the tree lined drives, its gorgeous. You’ll want to park and walk here.

5. Did I Mention the Concerts Are Free?

Ummm, did I mention the concerts are free?
