If I just want to get out of town but still have chores to do, I have your escape plan. Downtown Waynesville, North Carolina is where you need to go. You can enjoy the great atmosphere and be close to all the great shopping you need.
I spent an entire morning in Waynesville last week, then drove back through Clyde and Canton. The architecture, the shops, and the art was a great way to start my day. I should have enjoyed lunch at one of their great restaurants, but I didn’t. So I ended up grabbing fast food and wishing I had enjoyed one of Waynesville’s great restaurants.
Waynesville has always had a rich cultural history. This heritage is continued at their annual Folkmoot Festival (Click here to read my great Folkmoot article.) and in the art along their Main Street.
This is a good place to mention Waynesville has several ouylying shopping districts with all the stores you shop at. There are several towns located close by — Maggie Valley, Clyde, and Canton— you’ll want to visit. And as the sign said, Waynesville is very much The Gateway To The Smokies.
