Well, it’s Thursday and I’ve got really good news for all of you. But first, I’ve got to remind to click here and visit the Orange Peel’s website. you have to click here to visit the Orange Peel’s website and check out all they have to offer. You can listen to their podcasts, read their blogs, and even buy cool stuff. Even if you aren’t in the market for Orange Peel gift certificates or I (heart) Asheville t-shirts or even an Orange Peel baby bib, you gotta check out the bib. I mean this is one solid bib. They’ve even marked some of the items down by nearly half.
Well, the past few weeks The Peel’s shows have been sold out. Now, this may change as soon as I post this article, but at the moment all shows at the Orange Peel this weekend have tickets available. So this is your lucky day.
Tonight the Peel is featuring Lotus, an eclectic group that loves to mix traditional methods with modern electronica. Click here to visit their website where you can learn more about them, see their videos, keep up with their schedule and hear their music. Lotus will be joined by Moon Hooch, a band with two saxophones and a drummer and are proud of it. I know this because they say so on their web site. Click here to visit it and experience what they describe as their own brand: Cave Music. Tickets are $22, doors open at 8 p.m., and the show starts at 9 p.m.
Tomorrow the Peel pays tribute to Alice In Chains with the band Grind, out of Lexington, South Carolina. (I think i know where that is.) These guys are gonna be in Vegas and Seattle next week, so catch them now. Click here to visit their website and get a feel for what you have to look forward to. Tickets are $10 on Friday, but only $8 today. Doors open at 8 and the show starts at 9.
Saturday the Peel welcomes Donna the Buffalo and Rayna Gellert. For two decades Donna the Buffalo has been playing plays an eclectic brand of their own and are faithfully followed by “The Herd.” (That’s what their fans call themselves.) Click here to visit their website and see what inspires “The Herd.” Rayna Gellert is an artist with some serious local roots. She went to Warren Wilson and released an album, Old Light, last September. Click here to visit her website to listen to her music, see her videos, and keep track of where she’ll be. An make sure to follow the herd (sorry, I couldn’t resist) to the Orange Peel’s website and pick up your tickets for $18. Or you can pay $20 on Saturday. Either way the doors open at 8 and the show starts at 9.
On Sunday the Orange Peel has taken pity on those of us who can’t dance and is holding a Waltz night. We need to show up at 5:30 for lessons and those of you who can dance will show up at 6:30 for the party. The dance is $10, but bring along an extra $5 if you’re like me and have to learn.
