I was on the scene last night at the campus of Biltmore Baptist Church as they held their Freedom Festival. I have to report it was an incredible event. Everybody had loads of fun. It was great. Whenever Biltmore Baptist holds a community event— such as the one they had last year on the Fourth or the one last Halloween— its always loads of fun. This is a great place to take your family, or just to go yourself.

Biltmore Baptist is uniquely situated to be a place to have a great time. Their two huge athletic fields are wonderful for rows of inflatables or rows of tents where kids can play games. They’ve got plenty of free parking. And they have a skilled, dedicated team of staff and members whose goal is to provide their guests with a safe, enjoyable time.

Last night turnout was huge. Their two ball fields were full, but there was still plenty of room to make your way to the inflatable houses or the food vendors. The upper field held the food vendors and a music stage. Here’s a bit of what it looked like.

The view of the upper athletic field from the parking lot. Lots of great parking.

Musical entertainment was the group Creeks Arising. They did a great job. Top notch musicians.

And here’s a rundown of the food vendors that were there.

Two of the larger food trucks there.

Nothin’ like some good barbeque.

Unless you prefer Chili’s ribs and margaritas. (I didn’t see any margaritas.)

Of course there’s nothing like pizza on the Fourth.

Dessert! That looks good.

And you didn’t have to scream to get ice cream.

I just had to throw this one in. That is one neat car.

But between you and me, this is my idea of VIP transportation. Seriously. To me this is just the coolest ride.

I want to thank all the companies that provided these photos. Special thanks to Rita’s Italian Ices, Chili’s, CiCi’s, Okie Dokie’s BBQ and Norman’s Ice Cream Service(normansicecream.com). Now onto the fun part—the inflatables.

Whee! Fun for everybody. (Well, all the kids anyway.)

I hope these photos show an event filled with fun, food and excitement. It was a great evening but there was more to come. As the sun sank lower people settled back waiting for the highlight of the evening— the fireworks.

These are just a few of the folks who enjoyed the fireworks from the comfort of their cars, trucks and lawn chairs.

To me this was one of the best parts. There were small families, extended families, couples and individuals all relaxing, waiting. It was one of those moments that would have made our Founders proud. A real family event.

And here we go!

Well, I hope you enjoyed seeing the events of last night. It was a really enjoyable night and fun was had by all. A big thank you to everyone at Biltmore Baptist who worked the event, who planned the event and who cleaned up after the event. I want to mention their excellent traffic control staff. No traffic problems at this place. And finally one more image to go out on.

This is the Visitor’s Center at Biltmore Baptist. It doesn’t always have the flag, but you will always find a welcome here.
